Gurney Plaza's New Surau

I’ve been wanting to post this for quite some time but asyik terlupa je. Anyway, to be fair (after bashing them a mini bit), Gurney Plaza now (maybe quite some time already) has a new Surau. Although it is still located in the parking area, this new Surau is waaaay better than the previous one. The pictures here was taken during my last trip,14th November 2009.





The new Surau is now located at the new wing, forgot which floor,but right above Parkson Grand.

Barbeque @ Our House

Last weekend we hosted a ‘Pot Luck Barbeque’ bersama penduduk-penduduk rumah De@lov@ ni. Initially the plan was untuk jiran-jiran terdekat ni je (about 4-5 family), but the word spread like wild fire and nearly 90% penduduk came -that’s about 100 people! As host, kita paling takut kalau makanan dan minuman tak cukup tapi Alhamdulillah, tak sangka peduduk-penduduk di sini sungguh generous! As I remember, below are some of the feasts we managed to gather.


The Thrill Grill
1. Ayam 10 ekor (potong 12, marinated )– BBQ
2. Udang Besar 5 kg (gossips – 1 kg = RM60!) – BBQ
3. Sausages (more than 2 packs) – BBQ
4. Jagung (with margarine, salt and pepper..?) – BBQ
5. Satay Ayam 400 sticks (grilled by expert)

The Buffet Galore
1. Kambing Golek seekor (Serious dude!!! Gossips – RM500+!!- catering)
2. Mee Hoon goreng – 1 big stainless Steele container
3. Keow Teow goreng – 2 mangkuk
4. Mee goreng – 2 mangkuk
5. Nasi Putih
6. Nuggets
7. Ice Cream – 2 packs
8. Kuih (lama tak tau nama) – 3 talam besar
9. Rojak buah 2 mangkuk
10. cup cakes
11. bubur asyura
12. keropok
13. cake – 2 kg

Other contributions:
1. Meja dan kerusi plastic (sewa dari Surau)
2. Tikar plastic anyam ( managed to cover the whole porch- sampai ke driveway)
3. Water heater (untuk orang-orang tua minum kopi)
4. Lampu kalimantang (so happen ada brader wireman tengah buat wiring)
5. Bekas air 2 ( satu sewa from surau)
6. A modified as griller (pinjam from kilang’s kelab sukan)
7. sate expert and his sate equipments
8. Aluminium Foil, charcoal
9. sharp knifes (for kambing), saddles and serving plates

Not bad huh? If you’re planning of hosting a get together something like this, there are few things that you need to consider and aware, which most of them I learned from the BBQ party.

1. Kids, kids, kids. With or without parents, don’t expect them to come and be seated quietly at a corner..Seriously dude!..Lock the rooms! Lock the rooms!! Imagine, not only they entered the master bedroom, melompat-lompat atas katil lagi!!Computer aku jangan cerita laaa..asyik nak main game je...lantas aku lock TV room tu..

2. Although you have sms and stressed out that it’s a ‘pot luck’ party hundreds of time, do expect ‘the special ones’ will come melenggang. Yes, memang makanan berlebih that night but have some common sense la. Bayangkan ada orang lain bersusah-susah masak dari pagi, even ada yang spent nearly thousand for the party and yet you can come and say “maaflah kami datang tak bawak apaa pun..”..how could you?? At first I have no problem with that, but bila dah lama tu, fikir balik orang-orang lain yang dah bersusah payah tu..kesian jugak..tak adil lah..so when you’re invited to a ‘pot luck’ party, don’t just think of the host, but also the others..a simple keropok or snacks pun dah cukup..

3. RSVP.. When you’re invited to a party and asked to RSVP, just do it la..apa yang susah sangat? “Yes, kami bertiga akan datang.” Or “No, minta maaf kami ada hal masa tu”..or “Maybe, mungkin ada hal but I’ll get back to you..”.Once in a while, try putting yourself into other people’s shoe. Host ni macam-macam nak kena fikir..makanan cukup tak, kerusi meja nak order, berapa banyak..semua tu costly..yes normally kita kena estimate lebih..tapi kalau dah lebih melampau-melampau kan ke rugi??

4. The rest are more of technical issues. Lampu di barbeque pit, tikar memang useful kalau buat konsep ‘santai’ macam haritu..ada kerusi meja pun, diaorang nak duduk makan atas tikar jugak..cups and pinggan kena lebih..setiap kali minum, mesti pakai cup baru..sampah kena selalu monitor..dah penuh, ganti lain..nak mudah letak banyak tong sampah..


Rumusannya, we had fun..objective met. Awal-awal nak rapatkan jiran terdekat, but in the end kami kenal jiran-jiran yang jauh jugak. Good thing jugak buat BBQ because at least ada ‘kerja’ nak buat instead of datang bawak makanan, makan and sembang..ada lah additional activity..

Harap-harap lepas ni relationship antara jiran akan lebih daripada ‘hi’ ’bye’ je..

Heartless act of a son and daughter-in-law

A 57-year-old man, who had just undergone heart surgery, thought he could recuperate at home but was in for a shock when his son told him not to return home.

Harian Metro reported that Abdul Rahman Talib was abandoned by the roadside in Kangar with just a bag of clothes by his 30-year-old son after his daughter-in-law refused to let him back into the house.

“I asked my son to drive me to town although I did not know where I could go. Instead, he left me in front of a school.

“I cried as I stepped out from his car. I did not expect him to treat me like this after I’ve brought him up lovingly all these years,” he said, adding that he felt lost wandering around before finally settling down for the night at a bus stop.

Abdul Rahman said the following day, his son had come to look for him but the old man’s joy was short-lived when he realised that the son was only dropping off his bicycle.

He said he met an acquaintance near the school two days later and was invited to spend the night at his house.

It is understood that the Social Welfare Department had since sent Abdul Rahman to the Batu Bertangkap Welfare Home in Beseri.

Techno-Lazy

1. Masuk 2010 ni aku agak liat sikit nak post entry..mungkin sebab distracted by perkara-perkara boring yang aku kena buat jesteru ‘writer’s block’ pun terjadi.

2. Aku target nak habiskan Masters by 2010. Viva at the end of the year. So awal-awal haritu aku banyak habiskan masa mengarang thesis. Serabut jugaklah..Aku dah plot out schedule dan possibilities untuk habiskan within this year tu ada..agreed by both supervisors pun..ni aku dah start blogging ni maksudnya aku dah put thesis aku on hold lah ni..aiyoo..Come on semangaaaaaaat!

3. Hari tu kami beli Sound of Music dan kami sekeluarga menonton bersama-sama (of course halfway through Umayr merengek nak susu dan tidur). Peliknya tak tau kenapa aku macam tak pernah tengok part lepas maria jadi von trapp, the Nazi part and onwards..Anyway sejak daripada hari tu, terngiang-ngiang “ The hills are aliiiiiiiiive..with the sound of musiiiic..”, menyayi tune ‘My favourite Things’ and ‘Edelweiss’. Memang bestlah…Dan aku baru tau yang cerita ni based on a true story..told by the real Maria Von Trapp! Pergilah google kalau kau pun baru tahu..


4. Movies and drama– kitaorang baru khatam Takuya Kimura’s HERO, Grey’s Anatomy season 5 (download episode 1&2 season 6..mengecewakan.. – aku pun tak tau kenapa tersangkut pulak dengan GA ni..) Crows Zero 1 and 2 (DVD crows zero 1 mengecewakan because subtitle macam haram jadah..tapi 2 memang cool!!), Couples Retreat (zzzz), Valkyrie (zz). Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds tak tengok lagi sebab Izza tak suka cerita perang..nantilah..


5. Umayr, Umayr, Umayr..he’s getting cuter by the minutes!..Seriously, aku sungguh –sungguh –sungguh…ahh i have run out of words to express betapa bestnya ada anak ni! Lagi-lagi pulak sekarang dia dah mula pandai nak gelak bila di agah, lepas tu sembang beriya-iya dalam bahasa German dia, kadang-kadang gelak high pitch macam dalam iklan pampers tu...…aaaaaah~ lambat pulak pukul 5 ni..Tapi aku notice sejak dua menjak ni golongan bapa muda sekarang ni bukan macam golongan bapa dulu la..kalau bapak-bapak dulu mana ada nak dukung-dukung anak kat shopping complex..semua hal ehwal anak dilepaskan ke sang isteri..sekarang ni..nampak macam sang bapa yang over..semoga aku tak manjakan Umayr sampai cikgu nak rotan pun tak boleh sudaaaah…

6. Call me kolot or whatever..aku tak kisah..nak cakap aku tak banyak pengetahun pasal religion pun no hal sebab memang betul pun..nak kata aku closed minded pun, go ahead! Memandangkan iman aku sungguh fragile, in the Allah issue, aku berharap sangat hanya agama Islam yang boleh menggunakan nama tu. Biarlah ustaz yang baru balik dari Mesir or Ustaz ex-ketua ABIM pun kata boleh tapi benda macam ni, in the long run pasti akan berlaku confusion..sekarang pun ada yang confused..ni nak tambah lagi benda macam ni..Nanti esok kita kena ajar anak kita,“Nak..Tuhan kita Allah yang ni tau.. bukan Allah yang tu…”

7. Dalam isu bakar gereja pulak, BODOH BODOH BODOH! Siapa yang bakar tu memang layak kena giling dengan steam-roll..Seriously stupid!!!! Actually this act is beyond stupidity! Tak tau nak classify level mana kebodohan si bodoh ni!! bengap..


8. On a lighter issue, do you know about KTMB’s double-track project? According to the guy at KTMB’s booth in SP, the Ipoh-Padang Besar track will be completed by 2013..kalau sekarang SP-KL 8 hours, masa tu high speed train, SP-KL 3 hours je laa!!! Tak payah drive..naik train je bila balik kampung!!Yahoo!!

9. This Saturday I’m hosting a ‘Pot-Luck’ Barbeque party for ma ‘homies’ (jiran tetangga je). At first the idea was to invite only 4 -5 families within my house punya radius, but up to last night, rasa-rasanya macam the whole kejiranan (yang ada berpuluh-puluh family) akan datang!? Dia terjadi bila kes “ay! kalau aku jemput dia ni ok tak?” or “mamat ni kau dah ajak belum? Mamat belakang tu ajak dah?” I don’t have the heart to say “ eh tak boleh!! Aku buat kecik-kecik je..”..Actually aku pun tak kisah..The more the merrier! Cost tu boleh cari, yang aku risau, SPACE..tak taulah, I’m crossing my fingers.. harap-harap semua berjalan lancar..mana nak cari ayam dekat 10 ekor ni.? Hmmm..

Hi 2010!

Let me kick-off 2010 with some thankfulness.

I’m thankful for:

1. being alive and in a good state of health

2. having a gorgeous girlfriend who always accompanies and supports me through my never ending adventures (at times I call her wife too)

3. being blessed with such cute and healthy son which I shower him with TLC everyday

4. having a job; being paid for doing things that I’m passionate about

5. able to maintain a vehicle with 4 tyres , trusted and able to withstand the uncertainties of the Malaysian road.

6. able to live comfortably under a roof, with ample space for the three of us to run about

7. the unconditional love from my familia

8. friends who still remembers me

9. the existence of gadgetries (although most of them tends to weaken the human muscle)- Special credits to the creation of Cell/mobile/hand phones-which nowadays have become a ‘can’t-live-without-em’ product.

10. all the terrible things that had happened to me. I took all that as a lesson in life, a payback of what I have done in the past (intention or unintentionally). I’ll try my best to learn and not to repeat all the silly mistakes.
